Eating Healthy at Freshii

A few weeks ago, friend of mine introduced me to Freshii as a healthy lunch alternative. To say I’ve become obsessed since trying it is a bit of an understatement.

When I worked downtown on Queen Street, I was a big fan of eating at Fresh and missed their tasty rice bowls.

And then along came Freshii, a very satisfying substitution to Fresh, and with their own rice bowl that I can not get enough of.

In fact, over the handful of times I’ve eaten there, it’s the only thing I’ve wanted and have therefore tried.

Meet Freshii’s Bliss Bowl.

BLISS
BROWN RICE, ROASTED RED PEPPERS, MUSHROOMS, DOUBLE AVOCADO, DICED TOMATOES, GOAT CHEESE, EVOO & AGED BALSAMIC VINEGAR

I do half brown rice and half quinoa, extra cilantro and add red onions, jalapeño peppers and hot sauce.

At 424 calories, it’s relatively low in fat (11gr), cholesterol (8) and sodium (72). Almost 6 grams of fibre and 10 grams of protein. High in carbohydrates (71gr) but at least the carbs are coming from brown rice and quinoa and not bread or pasta.

Cost, after modifications: ~ $10

But the best part? It is SO filling.

Freshii. Fresh, definitely. Tasty, absolutely. A healthy meal alternative? In a world of fast food, completely.
