Today, at work, our (still fairly new) development manager was eating noodle soup at her desk and somehow managed to spill it on her phone. As she was trying to wipe up the mess, she inadvertently dialed 911. And the police came. Bwahaha.
On Wednesday, I got to pick Jago up at the babysitters – with the holidays and a snow storm last week, it feels like forever that I’ve been able to spend that little bit of QT with him. A part of me wondered if he would be distant with me since it’s been a while since I saw him – I think the last actual time was New Year’s Eve when I babysat for Renu in the morning but he very quickly put my worries at rest – I was standing in the doorway chatting with the babysitter’s daughter (who, when she saw me, came and threw her arms around me in a pretty fierce hug, I think I was missed!) and Jago looked up and saw me standing there. A huge smile came across his face, he dropped what he was doing and he came running. I think my heart felt like it would burst! We chatted and played the whole way home; when we arrived at Renu’s he wouldn’t even let me put him down so that I could take off my coat. I had planned to spend the evening there since Tay had hockey and then a meeting, and I realized just how long it had been since I hung out there. Jayant was very eager to play with me, we read from the books I had brought him and when we were playing Nintendo, he sat close to me so he could share the blanket I had spread on my lap. At one point, while we were playing Nintendo, Jago came over to me and crawled onto my lap. He buried his face in my chest and before I knew it he was sound asleep. Poor Renu – we were hoping to spend some time together when I came but (even more so than usual) my time was mostly monopolized by her kids. Which, of course, I loved :).
Somehow, I seem to have picked up a nasty sore throat/runny nose combo – I’ve been feeling less than average all week and wondered if I was coming down with something – it seems as though my body has last the battle. Instead of going to the gym after work as I had planned, I came home and slept for two hours. I still feel like crap, but at least I’m a bit rested. I think I will go do some wedding blog and then Sim away the rest of the evening.
Waking Hour – 23 January 2004
What is the first hour of your day like? Does what happens then have an effect on the rest of your day? It’s been so damn cold here lately that I haven’t been getting up at my usual 6am to hit the gym. Instead, I wake around 7:15, stumble into the washroom, brush my teeth, have my shower, do my skin care routine, then make up, then blowdry my hair. By 8ish I’m ironing my clothes/getting dressed, and out the door by 8:15 to be to work for 8:30am. That first hour is pretty uneventful so it really has little effect on the rest of my day – arriving at work is what sets the tone – it all depends on how many people irritate me and to what extreme :).
